Our mission

is to improve medical services for children in developing countries. We aim to advance health care by education, demonstration and skill transfer to local health care professionals.

Our Board

Our board comprises a group of volunteers from the fields of medicine, business, finance, corporate affairs, law and public relations.


The team works to raise funds, organise the overseas surgical visits, manage donations in kind and raise the profile of the plight of children with surgical disease in developing countries

Doctor Paddy Dewan


Paddy is the founder and Chair of Kind Cuts for Kids. Since 1993 he has been involved in 3 to 4 visits per year to various developing countries. His surgical interests include Paediatric Urology and Anorectal abnormalities, and he has a strong track record in research and innovations that enhance quality of care.  He chairs the Medical Manpower and Projects Committee.

Gordon Kirk

Board Member, Rotary Representative

Gordon is an Optometrist, who has been in private practice in Melbourne for the past 25 years. Gordon is a Rotary member since 1997 and is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Northcote.

Dr Padma Rao

Board Member, Medical Consultant

Padma is a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist with over 20 years experience, and is Director of Medical Imaging at the Royal Children's Hospital,  Melbourne, Victoria.

She chairs the Fundraising Committee and undertakes several Kind Cuts for Kids missions per year where her major roles are to recommend and perform radiological investigations on the children who undergo the surgery, and work with the local radiology and clinical teams.

Maggie Hammerton

Board Member, Secretary

Maggie has extensive experience working in diplomatic related posts, including contact with the Mauritian community. Maggie is the Board Secretary, chairs the Membership Committee and manages our Corporate Affairs function.

Luke is a Senior Business Banker at NAB and has 25+ years experience in the Finance Industry across domestic and international banks. 

Sandra Bourke

Board Member, Business Owner


Sandra is a retired registered nurse and midwife with over 20 years of experience working in a variety of healthcare settings.

Together with her husband Graham she owns and manages South Western Drilling PTY LTD, a Geelong based company that provides drilling services Australia wide, that they established together in 1997.
