• Future Plans

We are planning ongoing visits to Mongolia, Mauritius, Cuba, Papua New Guinea and Palestine. We are developing other destinations as relationships are developed between Australian Paediatric Surgeons and Surgeons in developing countries.

We also hope to provide the appropriate donations-in-kind to facilitate enhancement of the equipment in the locations visited. Skill transfer in related specialties, such as Anaesthesia, nursing and Radiology will be in accordance with the local needs and the availability of staff.

Cuba

In 2007 two surgeons and a nurse will make the 6th Kind Cuts for Kids visit to Havana. The trip is funded by Rotary.

Mongolia

Mongolia has been assisted by the Kind Cuts for kids Foundation with four visits, and is expected to receive further training visits when funds become available.

Palestine

In August 2006, two surgeons and an anaesthetist from Canberra will travel from Canberra to Gaza on a second teaching visit.

Somalia

The committee is currently working with the Somalian community and the Children First Foundation to establish a mission into Somalia

Mauritius

In November 2006, Dr Hosany Nazeer (the Mauritian Paediatric Surgical
trainee) will return to Mauritius with a team of a surgeon, nurse and anaesthetist to further the development of an independent Paediatric Surgical service. This will be the 7th visit of the Kind cuts for Kids Foundation.

Vietnam

The Kind Cuts for Kids Foundation is currently negotiating with a group from the Vietnamese community and their supporters. Hopefully, by the end of 2006 a mission will be established to provide training and support.
